Comments: Wood is strong and hard and commonly used for fence posts because of its durable timber. Black locust is a tough tree growing in polluted soils and spreads quickly. This tree is used for land reclamation projects, like coal strip mine and erosion control areas. It is appropriate for naturalized woodland plantings and sites which have difficult soil and growing conditions.
