Comments: Dogwoods are the most common of native flowering trees used in landscaping and found in front years and around patios throughout the area. The nursery industry has introduced many cultivars from ‘Cherokee Chief’ to ‘rubra’. Because of the many cultivars flower color can vary from white, pink or red. The flowering dogwood is one of the first trees in flower come spring and tolerates shady conditions.
