Comments:   The White Ash is a prominent native tree that is often planted in parks or other large areas.  Homeowners should hesitate to use it because it has rather long list of diseases that it is susceptible tom including: ash borer, lilac leaf miner, lilac borer, carpenter worm, brown-headed ash-sawfly, and fall webworm  to name a few.  The hardness and weight of the wood make it second only to hickory (Carya spp.) for use in the production of tool handles.
