Comments: Black Walnut is one of the most valuable woods for fine furniture. Veneer quality black walnuts have fallen victim to thieves, who harvest the prized trees from private property under the cover of darkness. Walk around the base of the tree and look for fallen walnuts, they can be found in late summer and fall. The walnut of the tree is protected by a green fragrant husk, but use care the inside of the husk is used to make dyes and will stain.
