"A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell
where his influence stops."
- - Henry Brooks Adams, The Education of
Henry Adams
Education is certainly one of the most important links to
protecting the Tunkhannock Creek Watershed for generations to
come. In order to effectively teach about the watershed,
educators must have the appropriate resources available to them.
This page is designed to provide access to available
resources, which will assist teachers in
educating others about the importance of a healthy Tunkhannock
Creek Watershed.
Area
teachers participated in the Bureau of State Park's Watershed
Education Program in early spring, 2000. This program was held at
the Water Resource Center.
It includes general resources that can help you and
your students better prepare for class including watershed basics,
virtual field trips, and a searchable catalog of links. You
can also link to the Discover the
Watershed section of the Atlas to explore specific information
about the watershed. Here you can learn about the
history of the watershed,
explore the watershed through
online interactive maps, see the
current conditions of both
Ackerly Creek and the South Branch Tunkhannock Creek, and
investigate current research
and presentations that
involve the watershed. Be
sure to sign the Atlas guestbook
so you can remain informed about opportunities within the watershed.
(These links will open a new
browser. To return, simply close the virtual field trip
browser)
The Virtual Field Trip is a
web-based guide to the physical trails located on the Campus of Keystone
College. You are welcome to visit the Willary Water Resource Center
and walk the trails. Stop by the Center headquarters to pick up a
trail guide.
This catalog of links allows users
to search the wealth of information on the internet based on
keywords, such as water education, wetlands, watershed
associations, et cetera. There are many excellent
resources available through this catalog, however, the links
provided are not inclusive of all the materials on the internet.
If there is a site you would like to see included in this
catalog, please send a link and a brief description to the
webmaster.
How to Use This Catalog
The search page allows for the selection of
a keyword (which must be selected) and the
option to search for a particular organization, word or phrase in
the detailed description, and the ability to limit the search to
only links containing lesson plans. Click on the link below to begin
searching the catalog.
