| Lake Carey is one of the largest of the lakes dammed by glacial deposits in
the area. It is divided into two unequal portions by a series of
"till knobs" or a "morainic loop." The outlet is currently blocked by a 10-foot
high human-made dam to raise and stabilize the lake level. Beyond the
spillway, the water passes over a series of rock ledge waterfalls dropping about
130 feet to Billings Mill Brook, which feeds into Tunkhannock Creek. |
